About
On August 18th 2007, Vikas Jhingran prevailed over more than 25,000 speakers from all over the world to become the 2007 Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking. In doing so he destroyed many myths; that great speakers are born not made, that engineers can’t be entertaining speakers and finally, that all MIT graduates are GEEKS.
Vikas penned his book, Emote: Using Emotions to Make Your Message Memorable after winning the World Championship of Public Speaking, to introduce a unique emotion-based approach to verbal communications.
Vikas has keynoted events all over the world, using a unique speaking style to share powerful messages with his audience. His speeches are filled with humor, but still leave his audience with a profound message that motivates them and changes lives.
Vikas has many honors in the technical arena, which include being the associate editor of JOMAE, stewardship of several technical topics at Shell and the Oil and Gas industry and authoring numerous technical papers. Vikas is also involved in leadership related activities both inside and outside of Shell. He mentors young engineers at Shell and aspiring speakers all over the world. He offers his expertise to help immigrant communities and our youth develop better communication skills. He is also involved with leadership and community organizations like Leadership Houston and The Foundation of Indian Studies where he tries to make a difference in his community.
Vikas has a Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and leads a team of engineers at Shell.
