About

Ryan Posnikoff is a construction technology evangelist and industry leader. Working his way up from boots on the ground as a Journeyman Steamfitter to a supervisor and planner on mega projects, he has quite literally busted his knuckles (and banged his hard hat) in the industry. He parlayed his experience in mega projects to help demystify technology adoption best practices for clients around the world through training, consulting, and, most recently, by leading product strategy for some of the world’s leading products in construction project planning, delivery, and controls.

As VP of Product at Contruent, his guiding principle is “can we make this any easier, faster, and intuitive for the doers and decision makers on today’s largest projects?”.

Ryan holds an MSc. in Project Management, a BA, and is a Red & Blue Seal certified (Canada) Steamfitter. He regularly speaks at industry events, guest lectures at universities, and has stumbled into the odd podcast and media interview.

The Future of Project Controls:

Breaking Down Silos and Fostering Collaboration

Are you ready to transform the way you approach project controls? Traditional project management often focuses on rigid functions like Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling. What if there was a way to make everyone’s job easier, get better project results, and have some fun along the way?

True project success isn’t just about ticking boxes, managing control accounts, or managing change—it’s about breaking down silos and fostering dynamic collaboration among team members, departments, the supply chain, and stakeholders.

In this session, you’ll gain real-world insights from Ryan’s experiences as a tradesperson and a technologist supporting global projects for over a decade, combined with findings from academic research. You’ll see how project controls professionals are strengthening collaboration with field personnel, clients, and suppliers at every stage of the project lifecycle.

You’ll also explore the impact of collaborative contract structures like NEC4, learn how to build project teams that communicate efficiently, and understand how these strategies drive measurable improvements in project outcomes—backed by academic studies.

Here’s what you’ll gain by attending this session:

    • Learn how project teams are already collaborating for success—and how you can apply these practices.
    • Understand the importance of working with your field personnel and the invaluable insights they provide.
    • Explore academic insights into how collaborative contract structures enhance capital projects worldwide..
