Topic & Abstract

Beyond the Basics: EVM for Next-Level Cost and Schedule Forecasts

One of the common criticisms against the use of earned value management (EVM) is that it is “looking in the rear-view mirror,” focusing on monthly or even cumulative variances in a project’s cost and schedule performance.  However, this presentation will illustrate, through the use of a mini-case study, how EVM can effectively be used to calculate a range of “trend-based” cost and schedule forecasts that are often times more accurate than bottom-up estimates.

The presenter will leverage more than thirty-five years of experience within the federal and commercial sectors, often times in support of $ billion-plus, first-of-a-kind projects/programs.

Key Takeaways:

  • Discover innovative methods to transform EVM data into reliable predictive forecasts.
  • Learn how to apply trend analysis to your EVM metrics for enhanced decision-making.
  • Gain practical tips for integrating advanced EVM techniques into your project management processes.
  • Equip yourself with strategies to communicate forecast insights effectively to stakeholders.

Attend this session to refine your forecasting skills, enhance your strategic planning, and elevate your project management acumen to lead successful, budget-aligned projects.
