AI-First Project Controls: Lessons from Chevron, LNG Canada, Anglian Water and Network Rail

Project controls has traditionally been a periodic discipline—monthly reviews, quarterly assessments, scheduled check-ins. But what if you could assure projects and portfolios continuously, catching risks months before they materialize and modeling delivery scenarios in hours instead of weeks?

The shift to AI-first project controls isn’t about replacing human expertise—it’s about amplifying it. When predictive and generative AI work hand in hand with experienced professionals, project teams gain the ability to see further, decide faster, and deliver with greater confidence than ever before.

In this session, Alexi Kostopoulos, Director of US & Canada for nPlan, explores what it means to build an AI-first project controls and delivery function. Drawing on real-world case studies from Chevron, LNG Canada, Anglian Water, the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), and others, Alexi will show how leading organizations around the world are transforming risk management, decision-making, and delivery assurance. You’ll see how AI trained on more than 750,000 past project schedules is enabling project teams to identify and mitigate risks months before they occur, strengthen contract negotiation through unbiased forecasts, assure hundreds of schedules in hours rather than weeks, and rapidly model delivery scenarios to choose the most effective path forward.

The session will close with practical guidance for project leaders on how to unlock these benefits within your own organization, covering the cultural, technical, and procedural shifts required to make AI-first project controls a reality.

Here’s what you’ll gain by attending this session:

    • Early Risk Identification and Mitigation: Learn how to identify and mitigate risks months before they materialize on projects.
    • Strengthened Contract Negotiation and Collaboration: Discover how unbiased AI forecasts improve contract negotiation and enhance collaboration between parties.
    • Accelerated Schedule Assurance: See how organizations assure hundreds of schedules in hours instead of weeks using AI-powered tools.
    • Rapid Delivery Scenario Modeling: Understand how teams rapidly model delivery scenarios to choose the most effective course of action.
    • Practical Implementation Guidance: Gain actionable advice on the cultural, technical, and procedural shifts required to make AI-first project controls a reality in your organization.
