How to Get to the Hotels
Getting to Galveston Island depends on your starting location. Here are some general directions from major nearby cities and airports:
From Houston, Texas:
By Car: Galveston Island is approximately 50 miles southeast of Houston. Take I-45 South towards Galveston. Once you reach Galveston, take the 61st Street exit and turn right (south). Stay on 61st Street to Seawall Boulevard. Turn left (east) at Seawall Boulevard.
The Galveston Island Convention Center is right at the intersection of 57th Street and Seawall Boulevard on the left. The Hilton Galveston Island Resort is located past 57th Street and Seawall Boulevard on the left (north) side. The San Luis Resort is located past 53rd Street and Seawall Boulevard on the left (north) side.
From Houston Hobby Airport (HOU):
The Hobby Airport is about 42 miles away from Galveston Island. If you fly from another city or state in the USA to Houston, this airport could be a better choice than the the George Bush Intercontinental Airport as it’s closer to the Galveston Island. Once you land, you can rent a car, take Uber/Lyft, or have a taxi to reach the hotels or the convention center.
If you rent a car, take I-45 South, following the same directions as from Houston.
From George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH):
If you are coming from abroad, you will likely fly into the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. This major airport is approximately 70 miles away from Galveston Island.
Once you land, you can rent a car, take Uber/Lyft, or have a taxi to reach the hotels or the convention center.
If you rent a car, take Beltway 8 West, then merge onto I-45 South and follow the same directions as from Houston.
From other locations:
If you are driving from a different city or state, it’s best to use GPS navigation or online maps to plan your route to Galveston Island.
Keep in mind that traffic conditions and travel times may vary, so it’s always a good idea to check for real-time updates and allow some extra time for your journey.
