About
Mr. Canterbury is a Construction/ Project Manager with twenty- eight years of experience in heavy civil construction, primarily water and wastewater construction. His first eighteen years in construction was with large general contractors constructing water and wastewater projects across the country while holding many positions including Superintendent, Project Manager, and Estimator.
Since William started his own consulting company ten years ago, he primarily works for owners and engineers providing preconstruction services such as estimating (Opinions of Probable Cost- OPC), scheduling, risk analysis and mitigation, project document review with constructability and value engineering recommendations, bid solicitation, contract negotiations, permit coordination and procurement, quality control, and overall program/ project management execution and guidance. Additionally, Canterbury CMS offers experienced construction managers to manage and inspect projects through project completion.
William has earned certifications as a Certified Estimating Professional (CEP), Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), and Project Risk Management Professional (PRMP) with AACEi (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering, International); a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) with CMAA (Construction Management Association of America); and is an ICC (International Code Council) National Standard General Building Contractor A. Additionally, Bill is the Chair for the Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification for AACEi and is a Trainer for CMAA’s Professional Construction Manager (PCM) course.
William is affiliated with AACEi, CMAA, ICC, ACI (American Concrete Institute), APWA (American Public Works Association), EPPIC Community (Project Control Academy), and RMWEA (Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association).
Recently, William was honored to be asked to be a Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Department of Engineering & Engineering Technology. He is currently teaching the Construction Estimating course.
Believing that education and knowledge are key to improving public works capital projects, William is often a presenter on a local, national, and international stage. He has recently been giving two different presentations; ‘The Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) Project Delivery Method: Facts, Myths, and Everything in Between’ and ‘Managing Preconstruction Budget and Schedule Expectations: AACEi Recommended Practices for Estimate and Schedule Classifications’.
